Spend Your Gap-Year Teaching English in Shanghai!

TEFL jobs in Shanghai! Spend your gap-year teaching English in Shanghai with OnTESOL and EF English First

In the struggle for reaching the top, home-grown tycoons built soaring monuments overnight.  Historically, Shanghai has been the juncture of China with the West and is now a driver for the latest trends in China. Amongst the modernized alleys of Shanghai lies a shabby pathway to the old temples nestling down the alleys with lined street markets and classical Chinese gardens. A city of astonishing urban diversity! You can go from a dumpling at a street stall to a cocktail in a designer bar or overlook the 10th century Buddhist monastery in a matter of few milliseconds. Summers might be hot and humid and winters cold but Shanghai never sleeps.

“I am a total foodie and Shanghai is a gastro playground for me.” –Keith Downing is teaching English online from the EF Shanghai office.

TESOL Bochum

Bochum remained quite a small town until the 19th century when steel and coal mining industries started to thrive. Today Bochum is a classic German city where big businesses such as RIM, Opel, and the innovative GLS Bank have a large presence.

-Get certified to teach English in Germany with a TESOL certificate by ONTESOL!-

Some of the city’s most beautiful buildings are Bochum City Hall, Altes Brauhaus Rietkötter (where fresh beer is brewed and served just like in olden times), and Friedrich Lueg Haus (The first high rise building in Bochum). Although many of the city’s masterpieces were brought down to the ground, Bochum has faced a renaissance since WWII and many of the buildings have been renovated to their original charm.

Being the cultural and traditional hub of the Ruhr region, Bochum houses a municipal theatre, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, and other smaller theatres and arenas. The musical Starlight Express, which opened in 1988, is the longest-running musical in Germany and one of the city’s main attractions.

Bochum hosts a variety of annual festivals. Perhaps the most eccentric one is September’s Open Flair, an international cabaret and street theatre festival. From June to November, there is always something fun to do in Bochum!

A university degree and a TESOL certificate of at least 100 hours is necessary to teach English in Germany. Native speakers who do not hold a EU passport must travel to Germany, get a job, and then apply for the work permit.

TEFL Vietnam – Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay literally means the Descending Dragon Bay. It is so majestic and imperious that words cannot define how wonderful this place is.

Ha Long Bay was named one of the seven natural wonders in 2011. The bay consists of a group of 3000 islands rising out from the crystal clear water; a delightful sight. Its magic is based upon myths that the dragons protected this area during the times of war.
halong bay

Ha Long Bay is the most popular tourist attraction in Vietnam. The wonderful islands are visited by thousands of tourists every year. They boat-cruise to the bay, visit the caves, and then hike through the national park. There are also beautiful beaches to visit. From February to April the weather is cool and moist, which reduce the visibility. In summer, storms are frequent and boats often have to change their routes in order to ensure safe travel.

Vietnam is not like any other teaching destination. Take your TESOL certificate online and embark in an exciting new career!

TEFL Dubai and Tourism

The first thing that comes to mind about Dubai must be its melting heat. Be prepared for a frost-bite too. Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort, will cool the summer air around you.

Dubai is one of the most luxurious cities in the world. Al-Burj, the tallest building in the world, is surrounded by 5-star restaurants and sleek shopping malls offering the best of the best. Ever seen fountains dancing to Arabic music? Hold your breath for the Dubai Fountain! For some fun times, visit the Aqua-venture water park where water slides up and down.

Dubai pays ESL teachers very well so you can enjoy all the luxuries it has to offer. The best ESL schools hire teachers who hold an advanced TESOL certificate, such as TESL Canada Standard 2, and have more than 1 year of teaching experience.
